Promoting sesame as new cash crop

IETC is promoting sesame as a new alternative cash crop and enhancement of the soya value chain for at least 2000 smallholder farmers in Gokwe South, Guruve and Mt Darwin districts. IETC is promoting contract farming and mechanization to help improve the incomes of smallholder farmers through promoting their participation in the sesame value chain. IETC is expected to engage 1200 farmers in demo sesame plots and achieve an estimated yield of 655kg/hectare and 1.5 MT/hectare of soya for small holder dryland production.
