Helping farmers operate profitable livestock production businesses

Cooper Zimbabwe (1992) Private Limited and two consortia partners Makera Cattle Company and MC Meats are helping smallholder farming communities in Mt. Darwin, Mutare, Kwekwe and Shurugwi districts to increase their incomes from profitable livestock production. The project which is operating from March 2016 to February 2017 has the objectives of improving livestock input supply mechanisms, improve farmer knowledge of modern livestock production methods, increase farmer incomes and improve cattle and goat breeds.

The expected results include the eradication of inbreeding amongst the livestock farming communities, 650 cattle and 650 goat farmers actively involved in sales of improved breeds from their pens and 650 cattle and 1000 goats put through each feedlot by the end of the project.
