Commercial livestock production and marketing

Molus Meats is promoting commercial livestock production and marketing for smallholder farmers through contract farming arrangements in Mutare, Mutasa and Makoni districts. Their aim is to increase production levels for an estimated 3000 contracted broiler chicken smallholder farmers operating both as individual farmers and in groups. The project’s group strategy seeks to scale up production through assessing group performance from the initial 500 birds that will be given out per group.

Further project interventions aim to increase the cattle value chain by 400 smallholder farmers; achieve a 100 000 broiler chickens supply from smallholder farmers per month; buy and slaughter an estimated 200 cattle from smallholder farmers per month and increased capacity of the company to meet market demand through contract farming and cold chain business expansion.
